10 must-try restaurants in Marbella and Puerto Banús

Must-try restaurants in Marbella: be sure to check these out next time you’re visiting! The Marbella restaurant scene is one of my favourite things about living here. It’s home to a variety of fine dining and casual restaurants, beach-front chiringuitos, hidden Spanish gems, bakeries and brunch spots.

The list could go on forever, but I’ve narrowed it down to 10 of the best. Here’s a collection of 10 must-try restaurants in Marbella;

Best for casual dining

Cappuccino Grand Cafe
Situated on Marbella’s paseo, Cappuccino is a great option for a casual bite to eat with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, there’s a variety of choices of food and cocktails – not to mention a great selection of cakes and desserts! Offering a relaxed atmosphere all year round, this is a firm favourite for casual dining with a view.
Must try restaurants in Marbella

Pan y mermelada
One of my favourite brunch spots in Marbella, Pan y Mermelada is a charming restaurant on the Golden Mile. It used to be a café only open until 3pm, however much to my delight, it has recently been refurbished and now serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a variety of freshly prepared international dishes, healthy breakfasts and smoothie options, as well as treats like waffles, crepes and cakes. Considering it sits on the Golden Mile, it’s incredibly good value for money and the portion sizes are generous.

Best steakhouses

Hacienda Patagonica
If you’re a steak fan, this is a must-try gem in Marbella. Close to Marbella old town, Hacienda Patagonica is a relaxed restaurant who combines the Argentinean grill with tapas, creating “grilled tapas”. Very popular with the locals and still quite unknown to tourists, this restaurant offers the best quality meat, grilled cheeses and my personal favourite, Nutella crepes for dessert – all at great value compared to its more ‘touristy’ and expensive neighbours.

Leña
An incredible restaurant situated within the Puente Romano resort, Leña is a fine dining steakhouse by Dani García and Las Brasas. Needless to say, the food and drinks served here are top quality. It is considerably more expensive, but worth trying! Especially for a special occasion. This spot is also conveniently sat with La Plaza in the centre – Puente Romano’s energetic square where you can enjoy a cocktail after dinner. Be sure to book beforehand, as these are very popular spots!Must try restaurants in Marbella

Best restaurants with a view

Garum
A family favourite for years, Garum sits on the Marbella paseo and provides a stunning setting for dining both day and night. The menu offers a variety of dishes, drinks, desserts and THE best bread. We discovered this lovely restaurant when we first moved here over 15 years ago and it’s remained a favourite for a relaxed yet smart dining experience.

El Oceano
El Oceano is a luxury hotel and restaurant sitting right on the beachfront between Marbella and La Cala de Mijas. It can be quite a drive depending on where you’re staying, but trust me – the view is worth it! The elegant restaurant boasts a fine dining experience while the waterfront terrace is perfect for a lighter bite to eat. Either way, this is a must-try if you love enjoying good food and a stunning view of the Med.

Best Italian restaurant

La Pappardella
One of the best – if not the best Italian on the Coast. The family-owned Pappardella have restaurants in Puerto Banús, a great spot for people watching and dining with a view of luxury yachts and cars, as well as one in Estepona’s marina. I’ve tried a few Italian restaurants in Marbella but nowhere seems to compare to La Pappardella and its incredible choice of flavourful antipasti, pizzas, pastas and desserts.

Best for date night

El Patio de Mariscal
This restaurant is a beautiful hidden Spanish gem in the middle of Marbella old town. Tucked away down the cobbled streets, el Patio de Mariscal serves tapas, paellas, pasta dishes and grilled meats in a cosy courtyard setting. This romantic spot is perfect for an anniversary or date night.

Les Jardins du Liban
Tucked away in the beautiful Puente Romano hotel resort, Les Jardins is a charming Lebanese restaurant. Allowing you to escape into nature, this spot is in the middle of the hotel’s subtropical gardens and is beautifully decorated with flowers and plants. It’s one of the prettiest restaurants I have been to in Marbella and the food and service is just what you would expect from a five-star beach resort restaurant.

Best for groups and a lively atmosphere

Breathe
Breathe is a stylish and modern restaurant in Puerto Banús. Another firm favourite of mine, the restaurant serves yummy food across three venues; Ground – the café and bakery (if you’re a carrot cake fan, this one’s for you!), Breathe – the restaurant and garden, and Air – a rooftop cocktail bar giving you views of La Concha and New York rooftop vibes. This spot is great for catering to larger groups and serves the best Espresso Martinis.
